Tesla turns profit, Musk says no new

 capital needed for Model 3

Tesla Motors Inc (TSLA.O) reported its first quarterly net profit in more than three years on Wednesday, buoyed by nearly $139 million in sales of clean car credits, and Chief Executive Elon Musk said the company could turn a profit again in the fourth quarter.

The electric carmaker also signaled it has substantially reduced the costs for launching production of its high volume Model 3 sedan next year. Musk told analysts the company's current plan "does not require any capital raise for the Model 3 at all."

The tech billionaire said Tesla could still raise capital to "account for uncertainty ... and de-risk the business," however.

The third quarter profit and a leaner capital spending plan could help grease the wheels for Musk if he does seek to tap the markets for cash. Turning a profit, even for one quarter, should help counter skeptics who have questioned his ambitious plans for combining Tesla and solar panel maker SolarCity (SCTY.O) into a company offering roof-to-garage no-carbon energy systems.

Musk has made promises to investors before related to the timing of product launches, production and profitability, only to walk them back.

The company has weathered a difficult few months, beginning with the death of a Model S driver using Autopilot, Tesla's much vaunted semi-autonomous driving system, and culminating in the decision to acquire debt-laden SolarCity, which has increased scrutiny on the finances of both Tesla and SolarCity.

Earlier this month, Tesla told investors it expected to raise capital this year to fund the Model 3 launch, which will involve a substantial investment in machinery and product development. But Musk signaled in a tweet earlier this month that was no longer the case.
Tesla reiterated that the mass-market Model 3 sedan was on track for deliveries in the second half of 2017. The Model 3 has a starting price of $35,000, about half the price of the current Model S sedan.

In the short term, Musk said sales of a new 100 kilowatt-hour version of the Model S, which starts at $134,500 and can travel 315 miles (507 km) on a charge, will be key to profitability.

Tesla said it planned capital spending of $1.8 billion for the year, with just over $1 billion of those outlays coming in the fourth quarter. However, that new total capital spending forecast for this year is about 20 percent lower than the automaker's previous forecast of $2.25 billion.

Tesla's results were lifted by $139 million in sales of California zero emission vehicle credits. Rival automakers can buy the credits rather than sell electric cars of their own. That was comparable to what the company booked from sales of so-called ZEV credits for all of 2014, said Cowen analyst Jeffrey Osborne.

"Certainly what drove the upside on profit is the $139 million of those zero emission credits which is a near 100 percent profit business," said Osborne.

Tesla said it had $3.08 billion in cash and cash-equivalents as of Sept. 30, compared with $3.25 billion at the end of the second quarter.

Tesla's planned acquisition of SolarCity will be neutral, or a cash contributor to fourth-quarter Tesla results in "a small way," Musk said.

2017 LAMBORGHINI CENTENARIO

The Lamborghini Centenario has finally been revealed by the automaker themselves in a press release issued today. The car was built to celebrate the centenary of Ferruccio Lamborghini’s birth, the founder and brains behind the inception of Lamborghini.

As stated before, only 20 coupe and 20 roadster versions of the car will be produced. Unfortunately, all of them have been sold out at a starting price of €1.75 million, roughly $1,900,000 USD at today’s current exchange rates.
Each one comes with the naturally aspirated V12 engine producing 770 hp, with Lamborghini stating its the most powerful engine they’ve ever produced. It can run the 3,351 lbs car from 0-62 mph in 2.8 seconds and 0-186 mph in 23.5 seconds, with a top speed of over 217 mph. Aiding in the quick acceleration is the permanent four-wheel drive, which includes the new Lamborghini rear-wheel steering system.

Lamborghini Centenario Specs

  • Engine: V12
  • Horsepower: 770 hp
  • 0-62 mph: 2.8 seconds
  • 0-186 mph: 23.5 seconds
  • Top Speed: 217+ mph
  • Price: $1,900,000
Inside, each Centenario is personalized to the customer’s liking through Lamborghini’s Ad Personam personalization program. The customizable options are not noted, but I can assume they include the color leather, piping, stitching, Alcantara and other materials, as well as the option to add specific trim materials and exterior colors. Coming in standard in the Centenario is the 10.1-inch touchscreen with navigation, Apple CarPlay, telemetry and more.
The Centenario is just the latest in Lamborghini’s long line of one-off, limited edition cars that show new technology the brand has to offer. What will be next? Who knows, but we’re going to have to wait a couple more years.
The new Centenario is powered by a naturally-aspirated V12 engine that gets no help from a turbocharger, supercharger or electric motors. It can produce 770 hp and run 0-60 mph in just 2.8 seconds.

2016 Volvo XC90 vs. 2017 Audi Q7

2016 Volvo XC90 vs. 2017 Audi Q7

If you're interested in a family-friendly luxury SUV, two of today's top contenders are the 2016 Volvo XC90 and the 2017 Audi Q7. Both tout 3-row seating, brand-new designs, an impressive expanse of technology and smooth, comfortable rides. But which one is better? And which one should you get? To help you find out, we've created a close comparison of both models, but first let's see what's new with the Q7 and the XC90 for the latest model year.
2016 Volvo XC90
The Volvo XC90 is a midsize luxury SUV with 3-row seating. After going more than a decade without a major update, the XC90 is totally redesigned for 2016 with new styling, new powertrains, a revised interior and a long list of new features.

2017 Audi Q7

The Audi Q7 is a 3-row luxury SUV that straddles the border between midsize and full-size. It, too, is newly redesigned, touting an impressive list of new features, a thoroughly updated interior and a revised exterior design.

ReliabilityAlthough the Q7 and XC90 are too new for reliability ratings from experts at J.D. Power, it's worth noting that J.D. Power's latest vehicle dependability study ranked both Volvo and Audi near the middle of the pack among overall automakers. Since these two models also offer identical warranty coverage (4 years or 50,000 miles of bumper-to-bumper coverage with no additional powertrain protection), it's safe to say that the Q7 and XC90 are tied for reliability -- at least until J.D. Power releases more detailed ratings that specifically cover both models.

Fuel Economy

The Q7 offers only one engine: a 3.0-liter supercharged V6 that makes 333 horsepower and 325 lb-ft of torque. All Q7 models have all-wheel drive, and fuel economy stands at 19 miles per gallon in the city and 25 mpg on the highway -- impressive numbers given the SUV's size and power.
The XC90, meanwhile, offers two powertrains. Base-level models use a 2.0-liter 4-cylinder that'sturbocharged and supercharged for 316 hp. It boasts a Q7-like 20 mpg city/25 mpg hwy. For drivers who want better gas mileage, there's the plug-in hybrid XC90 T8, which uses the same engine as the base-level XC90 with an added plug-in hybrid component. While we suspect its fuel economy is roughly the same as a standard XC90, it can travel 17 miles on electric power alone. That makes it the winner here for overall efficiency, though shoppers who don't want to upgrade to the plug-in powertrain will find that traditional gas-powered versions of the Q7 and XC90 offer roughly equivalent fuel economy.

Safety

When it comes to safety, it's hard to imagine two better vehicles than the XC90 and the Q7. While neither SUV has been crash-tested by the federal government's National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, both easily earned Top Safety Pick+ scores from the nonprofit Insurance Institute for Highway Safety -- the firm's highest possible rating.
But crash tests are just the beginning. We think the Q7 and XC90 are most impressive when you consider their long list of safety equipment, which ranges from impressive standard features -- such as a backup camera, parking sensors and forward-collision warning with automatic braking -- to virtually every new safety item you could imagine, including lane-departure warning, lane-keep assist, blind spot monitoring systems and rear cross-traffic alert. It even offers other unusual features such as run-off protection (in the Volvo) and side-exit alerts (in the Audi), which notify you if a car or a bicyclist is approaching before you open your door.

2017 FERRARI GTC4LUSSO

                  2017 Ferrari GTC4Lusso

In a category full of two-seat supercar coupes, the GTC4Lusso politely requests a table for four. The lusty 6.3-liter V-12 makes 681 hp at an eardrum-tickling 8000 rpm. That power routes through a dual-clutch seven-speed automatic; Ferrari claims a 0-60 time of 3.4 seconds and a top speed of 208 mph. The interior boasts acres of leather and a 10.3-inch infotainment screen with capacitive-touch controls. Featuring all-wheel drive and four-wheel steering, this is a hatchback unlike any other.                                                                                                                                 WATCH VİDEO HERE ^
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lgjpwm_eTpc&feature=youtu.be

Visually, the GTC4Lusso wears an evolutionary design characterized by new boomerang-shaped headlights, a redesigned bumper that integrates a large splitter, and a wide grille with three long slats. The updates continue beyond the front end with fender vents inspired by the ones fitted to the iconic 330 GTC of the 1960s, while the back end receives two additional tail lamps, a more rakish hatch accented by a spoiler, and a bigger air diffuser. All told, the aesthetic updates go much deeper than the average mid-cycle nip-and-tuck.Ferrari has finally addressed the FF’s biggest shortcoming: its interior. Built with markedly improved materials, the GTC4Lusso’s cabin gains a smaller steering wheel — a modification made possible by a more compact airbag — and a brand new infotainment system displayed on a state-of-the-art 10.2-inch touch screen integrated into the center stack. The driver sits behind a more modern-looking instrument cluster, and Ferrari has discreetly integrated a second instrument cluster into the right side of the dashboard so that the passenger can view key information such as how fast the engine is spinning, what gear the transmission is in, and what speed the shooting brake is traveling at.

The Lusso boldly bucks the auto industry’s downsizing trend with a naturally-aspirated 6.3-liter V12 engine that delivers 680 horsepower at 8,000 rpm and 515 pound-feet of torque at 5,750 rpm. The engine is based on the same unit that’s found in the FF, but it has been massaged to deliver 30 additional ponies and 10 extra pound-feet of twist. As a result, the roughly 4,000-pound Lusso rockets from zero to 60 mph in 3.4 seconds — 0.3 seconds faster than the FF — and it goes on to a top speed of 208 mph.
Like the FF, the Lusso is designed for enthusiasts who are looking for a high-end car they can drive on a regular basis. To that end, it’s fitted with an advanced four-wheel drive system developed in-house that works jointly with a four-wheel steering system and the Prancing Horse’s Slip Slide Control technology. The high-tech gadgetry promises to keep the prodigious amount of torque generated by the 12-cylinder in check even on wet or snowy roads.
The 2017 Ferrari GTC4Lusso will go on sale in time for the 2017 model year. Pricing information hasn’t been published yet, though it’s expected to cost more than the FF, which carries a base price of roughly $300,000.

CAR ACCIDENTS CRASHES COMPILATION 2016

BENTLEY BENTAYGA 2017 PREVİEW

2017 BENTLEY BENTAYGA

See Light
To create such a revolutionary car, Bentley’s designers were compelled to think in new ways. When you look at a car, you don’t really see it. It’s the same when you look at any solid object. Colours and contours are merely illusions; all our eyes really see is light, bouncing off surfaces in different ways. It is the way our brains process light that gives us our 3D view of the world.
Bentayga’s exterior was designed with this principle in mind and made real with Bentley’s world-famous sculptural prowess.
Strategic design elements like the ultra-sharp power line, signature ‘horseshoe’ at the rear and the muscular haunch, adding volume and power to the taller profile, are complemented by individual and dynamic detailing: the B-shaped wing vent behind the front wheel arch and Bentayga’s signature ‘B’ graphic rear lamps.
From the four round headlamps that flank the matrix grille to Bentley’s trademark ‘double wing’ cockpit design, Bentayga brings the marque’s DNA to the SUV.
See Texture
Nowhere in the world are cars crafted with the same passion and skill as they are in the Bentley factory. Because, when it comes to the way we experience a car, the way it feels matters just as much as the way it looks. Texture is everything.
With the arrival of Bentayga, the world will see craftsmanship of this calibre applied to an SUV for the first time. For those lucky enough to experience it, new heights of luxury will be reached. For the rest of the world, the SUV category will never look the same again.
From the outset, Bentayga was going to be revolutionary. And a revolutionary car warrants a revolutionary approach, in every aspect of its development. When it came to designing the camouflage that would disguise the car during its open-air tests, inspiration was sought in the art world: in particular, the work of 1960s Op Art pioneer Bridget Riley, famous for her use of optical illusions in her paintings.
To truly understand the relationship between the texture of physical materials and the experience of driving Bentayga, you need to see how the two are intertwined; you need to see each aspect through new eyes.
Becoming Bentayga
An extraordinary car demands an extraordinary name.
With the world’s geology at our feet, we searched from a satellite’s eye view for a symbol of nature’s power and beauty. We alighted first on the Taiga – the vast continental snow-forest that crowns the Northern Hemisphere. Then, we focused our lens tighter. And, as ever with Bentley, it was in the meticulous detail that reward lay.
The Roque Bentayga – an iconic, eye-catching standalone peak in the Atlantic Canary Islands, provided further inspiration. A unique feature, one with gravitas and stature. One that draws attention from all directions. Locally and globally.
As Wolfgang Dürheimer, Chairman and CEO of Bentley Motors, said whilst announcing the name in Detroit earlier this year:
“Bentayga is a name that reflects what we know our SUV will do better than any other car in the world – combine the best automotive luxury with outstanding performance to take the Bentley experience to new environments.”
See Technology
Bentayga is leading the way in technological advances at Bentley. And much of that technological development has been focused on perfecting the driving experience. From easy access to a range of driving modes to cutting-edge driver assistance technology to electronic power assisted steering, Bentayga delivers driving pleasure in even the most challenging situations.
Every feature has been perfected as a result of research with Bentley drivers around the world, many of whom also drive at least one SUV. Bentayga is the first Bentley to offer more than two choices of sound system, including the most powerful system available in any SUV.
The interface is remarkably flexible, offering a choice of touch control, rotary dials, gestures or even voice, depending on user preferences or driving conditions.
Meanwhile, rear seat passengers can also enjoy TV and video entertainment, navigation features, games, video calling and media streaming.

In the Bentayga, this technology is applied with subtlety, with the aim of enhancing the experience for everyone inside the car. When not required, its presence is barely perceptible. When needed, the effects can be quite striking.
See Performance
The all-new W12 TSI engine is the most technically advanced 12-cylinder engine in the world, delivering the most power, torque and economy of any car in its class. However, this is too narrow a description of what true performance is. Only when you drive Bentayga over any imaginable terrain, and feel the smooth, balanced distribution of raw yet efficient power, does it become clear. Bentayga’s performance achieves the optimum balance of handling and efficiency – without a hint of compromise.
To put theory into practice, the world’s first genuine luxury SUV tackled some ‘real world’ testing in the demanding and unforgiving mountain terrain of Northern Spain. Bentayga was forced to demonstrate great traction and axel articulation on otherwise impassable routes. A breathtaking challenge, but one undertaken in true Bentley style – with unparalleled ride and cabin comfort.
When Bentayga returns to the tarmac, it achieves a 0-60 mph time of 4.0 seconds (0-100 km/h 4.1 seconds) and a top speed of 187 mph (301 km/h), once again demonstrating true Bentley spirit.
Bentayga and its all-new W12 engine has redefined what an SUV engine is capable of.
